Seeing Auntie Kyla and Uncle Erick Again

It’s never easy to live far away from people who mean so much to you and now that little Raya is here I know it is even harder for my brother and sister. We have been so lucky these past 5 1/2 months to be able to see each other as much as we have. Erick and Kyla came to Michigan to be with the family and got to be apart of Raya’s first Christmas.

Uncle Erick,

I’m not 100% sure what it is about him, other than the fact that he’s just plain awesome, but Raya absolutely adores him. Maybe it’s the beard she likes to run her fingers through, or the long dreads that she can grab, or possibly all the wonderfully goofy things he says and does when he plays with her. No doubt about it he is always able to put a smile on her face. I’ve seen the proof, my brother is going to be such a great dad one day to one very lucky kid. He is already the best uncle Raya could possibly have.

Aunt Kyla,

My sister and I should never be half a country away from each other, but so is life and we make the best of it while trying to go on with every day not thinking about the hole in our hearts. Whenever she or I visit each other all feels right in the world and whenever we leave each others side there’s that aching feeling again that I’ve misplaced something and it’s no where to be found. I am so thankful that we have had the means to see each other as much as we have since this distance has been put between us. She is the sweetest Aunt to Raya and I love seeing Raya’s face light up when she sees her. No matter how far away we are my lil’ Sug will always have a special bond with her Auntie Gingerbread.
